Rektoscopy
Rectoscopy – examination of the rectum
Rectoscopy allows a more detailed assessment of the rectum.
It is an important complement to proctoscopy, especially when changes may be located deeper in the rectum.
During the examination, you will be seated comfortably on a proctological examination chair.
The doctor carefully inserts a tube approximately 25 cm in length, known as a rectoscope, which is equipped with light and optical imaging.
This allows the rectal mucosa to be visualised clearly.
By gently introducing a small amount of air, the intestinal wall is expanded, making the examination easier.
